Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why can't I find my "new arrival"?

Not all babies born are placed in the Online Nursery. Parents must request the Online Nursery service and sign a special "internet" consent. Often patients and families get Online Nursery confused with the "First Photo" pictures which are taken and sold to the parents after discharge.

Also, babies who are born prematurely may not be placed in the Online Nursery until several weeks after delivery. The decision to take the preemie's picture will be made by the parents and the Neonatal Intensive Care staff. Often, the picture of the preemie is taken right before the baby is discharged home.

Finally, newborns' photos will be placed on the Web site no later than 72 hours after the baby leaves the hospital.

  2. How long do the pictures stay in the Online Nursery?

Pictures of the babies and families are left in the Online Nursery for 60 days. After 60 days, the pictures will no longer be available; therefore, we encourage family and friends to print the pages as a keepsake of their "new arrival."

  3. Why are last names not used?

For security reasons, no last names and no addresses are placed in the Online Nursery. We realize that visitors to our site would enjoy sending congratulations to the new parents, but patient privacy is an important aspect of the care we provide. Please utilize the Online Nursery Guestbooks to offer your best wishes to the family.
