Baptist Hospital East is accredited by state and federal agencies that oversee compliance with established standards of care. The primary accrediting agencies are the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Office of the Inspector General, and The Joint Commission.

The Joint Commission conducts accreditation surveys of healthcare facilities to determine their compliance with nationally-established standards. The standards include an organization’s level of performance in key areas such as: patient rights, patient treatment and infection control. They also focus on the hospital’s ability to provide safe, high-quality care.

To earn and maintain accreditation, an organization must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team at least every three years. Baptist East was last surveyed in 2005.
