Pediatric Rehabilitation Services The Baptist Hospital East Home Health Agency offers in-home rehabilitation services to young children with motor, cognitive, speech and language delays, caused by conditions such as:
- cerebral palsy
- Down Syndrome
- brain injuries
- hearing impairment
- apraxia
- genetic disorders
- other developmental delays
When a child is referred to the program, a therapist visits the child and his family in the family home within 72 hours of receiving the referral. Then the home health agency's pediatric rehabilitation team works with the child's parents and physician to develop a treatment plan. Services provided include physical, speech and occupational therapies; nursing; and social services, depending on the child's special needs.
The program accepts referrals from parents, hospitals, pediatricians, family practitioners, neonatologists, First Steps, the Kentucky Early Intervention program and other community agencies. Therapy services can be provided in the child's home or day care center.
