Baptist Hospital East offers a wide range of physical therapy services on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The hospital's Physical Therapy department is comprised of three separate and highly specialized patient care areas.

Acute Care -- Acute physical therapy services are provided to patients from many of Baptist East's patient care units, such as orthopedics,  neurological/neurosurgical, oncology, cardio-pulmonary, vascular, critical care and medical/surgical.

Rehabilitation Program -- Physical therapists play an integral part in Baptist East's 29-bed Rehabilitation program. This program offers a multidisciplinary team approach to helping patients with head injuries, multiple trauma, strokes and other disabling conditions regain the skills needed for independent living.

As part of the Rehabilitation program, physical therapists are also involved with the Amputee Clinic, Multiple Sclerosis Center, Post-Polio Clinic, and a regional Muscular Dystrophy Clinic, which serves 30 counties throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Outpatient Services -- Outpatient Physical Therapy specializes in the treatment of athletic injuries, orthopedic disorders, women's health, pediatrics, and men's and women's incontinence. These services are designed to provide each patient with a comprehensive evaluation, followed by an individual treatment program based on each patient's needs. Aquatic therapy is also available at Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center.

Provided are such services as assessment and treatment of amputees, stroke, vestibular, musculoskeletal problems, manual therapy techniques and gait analysis.

Specially-trained therapists work in Baptist East's Lymphedema Clinic and Women's Health Program, as well as Baptist East Spine and Sport Therapy (BESST) at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center, and locations in the Bluegrass Industrial Park, Riverport, the Fern Valley Road area, Buckner and La Grange.
