These suggestions may help:
- Drink six to eight glasses of water a day.
- At bedtime, place a thermos of cool water by your bedside.
- Avoid hot showers and baths.
- Dress in layers of breathable cotton.
- Caffeine, alcohol and hot or spicy foods may intensify hot flashes.
- Many times, hot flashes happen at night. Plan rest periods during the day.
- Vitamin E may help. Consult your physician regarding dosage.
- Bellergal S or Clonidine are prescription medications that may help. Consult your physician.
- Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
