Children 12 years of age and older looking for opportunities to fill the summer months can learn all about babysitting in a special class offered at Baptist Hospital East.

The women's health community educator at Baptist East teaches students how to diaper and bathe babies and what to do if an emergency arises. The director of the Baptist East Center for Child Development gives students an overview of babysitting, including the rights of both the babysitter and the parents. Students learn how to use music and crafts to entertain children and what to expect from youngsters at various ages.

Cost of the class is $15 which includes lunch in the hospital cafeteria. Class size is limited. Advance reservations are required and may be made by calling the Baptist Hospital East Information Center at 897-8131. Babysitting classes are offered each summer.
