The medical transcriptionists play a very significant role ensuring that turnaround times are met in order to enhance patient care. This position requires in-house training for up to six-months.
Description of Department Functions: Transcribe various dictation work types such as history and physicals, operative/procedure notes, discharge summaries, consultations, radiology reports, etc. The transcribed reports transfer into a database that is online in order for caregivers to have access to review their reports once they have been transcribed. Transcribed reports are generated for the distribution for patient charting.
- Facilities contact the department for copies of reports for potential patient office visits, etc.
- Medical editing of Voice Recognition documents.
Equipment/Technology Used: Dictaphone System for transcription and editing of dictated reports. Pathways Image Manager for reviewing medical records online.
