Baptist Hospital East has been named an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence^®.

The Center of Excellence designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric (weight loss) surgery. All bariatric surgeries performed at Baptist East are minimally-invasive, contributing to favorable outcomes.

Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, also known as the LAP-BAND^® and REALIZE™ band
Laparoscopic gastric bypass
Laparoscopic gastric sleeve
Laparoscopic greater curvature plication
Revisional weight loss surgery - ROSE procedure

These types of surgery have helped many seriously overweight individuals achieve and maintain significant long-term weight loss. The surgeries are performed as outpatient or same-day surgeries. A hospital stay of less than 24 hours can be expected. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), candidacy for weight loss surgery is based on several factors including BMI, or body mass index. Seminars and support groups:

To find out if you are a candidate for this outpatient, minimally invasive procedure, register to attend a free physician-led seminar. Check here for dates.
