Free prostate cancer screenings - June 28
Free prostate cancer screenings for men who are age 40 and over, do not have an urologist and have not had a PSA test or exam in the last year, will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 at Baptist Hospital East.
The screening will include a digital rectal exam from a physician and a blood sample for the PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) test. Performing the tests will be Urologists William Cooper Buschemeyer Jr., MD, and Christopher E.W. Smith, MD.
June is Men’s Health Month – a good time for men to focus on their personal health.
One in every six American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime. African-American men are more than twice as likely to die from the disease. Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of death for American men.
For more information about the screening, or to register, call the Baptist Hospital East Information Center at (502) 897-8131 or e-mail BHEInfoCenter@bhsi.com.
