Cancer diagnosis - CARE for your body with exercise
Cancer treatment and chemotherapy can be draining, but stamina-boosting exercise can help those affected build strength, confidence and overall fitness.
The Baptist Hospital East Cancer Care Center offers Cancer and Restorative Exercise – CARE – at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center. Personal trainers with expertise in working with people affected by cancer will design an individualized exercise program for each participant. Workouts will be in a small group setting for camaraderie and encouragement.
CARE is designed for people in active treatment of their cancer or within a year of active treatment. A physician’s release is required before starting the program. Participants will also be screened for readiness by a physical therapist at the Wellness Center.
This program is made possible in part by a grant from Links for Life of the River City Business and Professional Women’s Foundation. Cost is $200 per person, which includes 20 group sessions with a trainer and full access to the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center during the three-month program.
