Baptist East wins national award for clinical performance



Press Ganey award 2011Press Ganey Associates, Inc., named the hospital a 2011 Success Story Award winner at the organization’s national client conference held in Grapevine, Texas. Baptist East was one of nine organizations to receive this honor in 2011 and one of three in the nation to receive the award for clinical performance.

Baptist East received the award based on its improvement program related to checking (rounding) on patients regularly. The hospital’s entry, “Rounding for Better Outcomes,” was selected from more than 110 entries.

Neurosciences Nurse Manager Nicole Seraphine, who sparked the effort, detailed the success of rounding on patients on that nursing unit. The result was a decrease in patient falls, increased patient satisfaction and increased nurse satisfaction.

Seraphine presented the information at the Press Ganey national conference was recognized at the awards winner luncheon.

The Success Story Award recognizes facilities that have demonstrated leadership, implemented organizational change and improved performance.

Other national winners were Marlborough Hospital in Marlborough, Mass. and Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices & Diagnostics.

Press Ganey currently partners with more than 10,000 healthcare facilities – including 50 percent of all hospitals in the United States – to measure and improve the quality of care given to patients.
