$25 cholesterol screenings available
Check your cholesterol
Discover if you have high cholesterol through a simple blood test offered by the Baptist Hospital East Cardiovascular Health Awareness program.
The $25 screening is available at Baptist East, Baptist Eastpoint near Anchorage and the Baptist East Diagnostic Imaging Center in Middletown. September is National Cholesterol Education Month – a good time to have the screening performed.
The screening includes total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.
Test results will be available immediately and reviewed with you (plus sent to your healthcare provider). You will also learn how to improve your cholesterol and triglyceride levels to decrease your risk for cardiovascular disease.
High blood cholesterol, which affects more than 65 million Americans, increases your risk for heart attack and stroke. You can have high cholesterol and not know it. Lowering cholesterol levels decreases your risk for developing atherosclerosis or fatty deposits that cause blockage of blood flow in the arteries.
Screenings are private, individualized and personal. Cholesterol screenings and education are provided by a nurse practitioner. Other screenings offered are: carotid artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral artery disease, atrial fibrillation and diabetes.
The screenings are not covered by Medicare or other insurance plans. You do not need a doctor’s order. To schedule an appointment, call Schedule One at (502) 897-8888.
Beginning at age 20, everyone should have a cholesterol screening at least every five years. Know your cholesterol numbers, triglyceride levels and learn about lipid profiles. To keep your cholesterol in check, make healthy food choices and keep physically active.
