Learn to exercise - Sept. 20-Oct. 25

Sharpen your fitness skills and learn how to keep up motivation with the Learn to Exercise course at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center Sept. 20-Oct. 25.         

Orientation for the six-week program will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13.

Glenda Wagner, an educator certified in the Active Living Everyday program from the Cooper Institute, will teach the course. Wagner will help those who know they need exercise but do not know where to begin, those who lack motivation to workout, and/or those who feel intimidated in fitness centers.          

Participants will learn to use exercise equipment, experience classes, use the lap and warm water therapy pools, and more. The program includes a six-week membership to the Wellness Center, 45 minutes of weekly activity with an educator or trainer, and a 30-minute class session on how to overcome barriers and maintain physical activity. Group information sessions will be on Mondays from 10-11:15 a.m. and 6:30-7:45 p.m.

The course fee is $99, which includes the six-week membership to the Wellness Center. Participants will have access to the entire 70,000 square foot facility including aerobic and fitness classes, strength and cardiovascular equipment, and the Oasis spa.

The Wellness Center, 750 Cypress Station Drive near Mall St. Matthews, is a health-based fitness center for adults of all ages. In partnership with Baptist East, the center provides programs and services to staying healthy for life.
