Get a Taste of Plant-based Diet's Benefits for Improved Health at Free Tasting
Get a taste of what a plant-based diet can do to improve your health before, during and after cancer treatment at a free sampling at 7 p.m. June 24 in the Baptist Health Louisville second-floor Education Center, 4000 Kresge Way.
The advice given by Registered Dietitian Holly Ansman in the “Plant-Based Nutrition and Cancer” talk will also apply to those wanting learn more about the health benefits of whole plant foods and how to incorporate them into your diet.
Ansman will offer tastings of several plant-based dishes (salads and entrees) and provide participants with recipes.
Research has linked fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, beans, nuts and seeds to protection against a range of cancers, including mouth, pharynx, larynx, esophagus, stomach, lung, pancreas and prostate.
Plant foods provide a rich supply of nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and fiber for relatively fewer calories. By increasing your intake of these foods you’ll weigh less, enjoy optimal health, and have a lower chance of developing certain types of cancer.
