Diabetes evening outpatient class to meet Jan. 11-13

Mon, Jan 11, 2010 6:15 p.m.

Baptist Hospital East is offering a diabetes class on Monday through Wednesday, Jan. 11-13, from 6:15-9:30 p.m. in Room 2B of the hospital’s second-floor Education Center.

Certified diabetes educators present the class, which review the basics of diabetes for persons previously diagnosed and reinforce physicians’ orders for individuals newly diagnosed with the disease.

With the help of these professionals, participants and family members will learn ways to manage diabetes, including proper diet, exercise and progress monitoring. Patients will receive individualized meal plans as well as glucose monitors.

Additionally, participants serve as a resource to one another for questions or discussion of problems.

A fee, reimbursable by most health insurance plans, is charged to cover costs. Insurance will be billed. Friends and family are invited at no extra charge. To register, call (502) 897-8831. All participants should register through Patient Access, located off the main entrance lobby.
