'Meet the Doula' Night Set June 19 at Baptist Health Louisville

Wed, Jun 19, 2013 7:00 p.m.

Expectant parents can learn about what a doula can add to the birth experience at a free "Meet the Doula" session at Baptist Health Louisville from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 in the hospital's second-floor Education Center.

The session will be sponsored and staffed by doulas from Birth Care Network.

A doula is a paid, supportive friend during labor. The doula does not deliver the baby or perform any medical function. Some may opt to have a doula because they are choosing to labor without medication or whose partner may be absent at the time of the birth. There are also postpartum (after birth) doulas.

There is no cost to attend this session.
